The current year (fall 2003 and spring 2004) is a test case for a slightly different approach in terms of the materials used. Dr. Joel Benington (Biology) has written a book entitled "How Science Really Works" (unpublished yet) and parts of the book are being used in lieu of the historical readings. (How to do this was the subject of a summer 2003 faculty workgroup supported by a Martini grant, i.e. Clare College faculty development funds.) This means that the faculty must now provide the factual background information for each topic previously supplied by the Trefil and Hazen textbook. How this will work out is yet to be determined.
