Artists Description:

The image suggests Clare holding the light or monstrance.  The design on her sleeve is taken from a traditional Assisi stitch.  Poppies, I understand, grow everywhere on the hillsides of Assisi.  The sunflower signifies the heavens and the earth; a single symbol representing the cosmos as a unified whole.
