Statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the walk to Friedsam Library
This statue stood over the door of the original Seminary chapel which burned in 1930. The statue was one of the few elements of the building to survive and rests on a pedestal made of stones from that building.
The legend on the base of the statue reads:
The ground on which you stand is hallowed land.
The Lord gave - 1855
The Lord took away - 1930
Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
The statue was originally placed in its niche in the facade of the chapel in 1887.
