St. Joseph's Oratory

St. Joseph's Oratory

Near the center of the campus the St. Joseph chapel was built in 1927.  It was commissioned by Olean resident Thomas Flynn as a memorial to his wife, Catherine, and designed by Mother Immaculata, SMIC, founder of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception.  Inspired by the Tempietto of Bramante in Rome, which legend suggests as the site of St. Peter's martyrdom, the final design was completed by Buffalo architect Chester Oakley.  (Second view)
