Stations of the Cross
Stations of the Cross as seen from St. Elizabeth Motherhouse
St. Bonaventure campus is just across the road past the overpass. The Stations of the Cross were built in 1926. Conceived by Fr. Thomas Plassman, they were built in a circular pattern to enhance processions. At the time of construction, a cemetery was located on the site, so the bodies were moved to the upper part of the cemetery to make room. The 14 stations are built of red brick reflecting the construction of most of the buildings on campus. [Second photograph]
