INFORMATION INSTRUCTION SESSIONS

Check our schedule of classes

The library offers information instruction sessions which are specially tailored to the needs of your classes.

There are special sessions for CLAR 110 and 111 (Composition and Critical Thinking), and UNIV101 classes, where the same presentation is given to each class so that we know that all of the freshman have received the same library information through these classes.  Different topics are presented in CLAR 110, 111 and UNIV 101 sessions, so don't worry that you will have "heard it all before!"

For other classes, whether its a freshman class or a graduate level class, we'd like the opportunity to speak with your class and introduce them to the resources that would be useful for that area and level of study.  Sessions are arranged individually with the professors, and can take the entire class time or just a portion, depending upon instructor preference.  Special faculty requests for topics to be covered will always be honored.

Sessions can be held in your classroom (we'll come with a laptop computer and projector for a PowerPoint presentation) or here in the library, depending upon your preference and the nature of the session.

Buffalo Center faculty:  We can schedule sessions on Friday nights, and most Saturdays.  Let us know what you need!

Our goal is to produce "information literate" students who have the ability to access, evaluate, and use information.  As we all know, the changing nature of the information scene requires all of us to continually update our information literacy skills to ensure that we are successful consumers of the information we need for our lives and our academic field of study.
