The University’s current
tuition remission policy did not envision the offering of online programs, which
involve the imposition of enrollment caps and the incurrence of additional costs
by the University that are not present with the University’s traditional
graduate programs. While permanent revisions to the existing policy are being
considered through the established channels, the following guidelines will apply
regarding online and hybrid (combined online and face-to-face) graduate
programs:
The University reserves the
right to limit the enrollment of students receiving tuition remission to up
to 5% of the total students enrolled in any program. Students will be given
priority based on the length of employee full-time University service.*
Students must be both accepted to the program and have submitted their
completed application for tuition remission to be eligible for
consideration. Additional students may be admitted on a space-available
basis.
Students accepted for
tuition remission will be responsible for the fee payable by the University
to its online service partner for the courses in which they are enrolled.
Tuition remission is not available for enrollment in doctoral-level coursework or programs.
The above will apply for students whose initial enrollment in the online or
hybrid program occurs on June 1, 2013 or later, and will continue until May 31,
2014 or the establishment of revisions to the Tuition Remission policy that
explicitly address online and hybrid programs, whichever occurs first.
Specific procedures, including
timetables, will be established for the operationalization of these guidelines
subsequent to their approval.
*Spouses of employees will be given priority according to the length of the
employee full-time University service.
