Beilstein Hanbuch der Organische Chemie (Belstein Handbook of Organic Chemistry)

Beilstein’s Hanbook of Organic Chemistry is a collection of published information and contains *“critical reviews of all the material on all known carbon compounds” ( p.71). The material in Beilstein’s Handbook is mostly written in German. A German-English dictionary for chemists is available.

Chemical Abstracts is a comprehensive index to the field of chemistry and chemistry literature. The compilation in the index includes and is not limited to abstracts of articles, patents, reports, and reviews.

Ø      STN Easy:  Available by subscription. STN is a service from the Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) that allows access to an assortment of science and technology databases including the CAS databases (CA and CAOLD).

 

Ø      Academic Search Premier: A multi-disciplinary database that provides full text for nearly 4,500 journals and over 3,000 peer reviewed journals. A publication index is provided to verify that journals are peer-reviewed. It is updated on a daily basis. Chemistry journal titles such as Chemical Engineering Science, Journal of Chemical Information, and Journal of the American Chemical Society are included.

 

Ø      MEDLINE: This database provides information on a variety of subjects including medicine, nursing, and can search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals.

 

Ø      ProQuest Research Library: Covers a wide range of academic subjects and indexes over 3,500 titles (including newspapers). This database includes abstracts, full-text and images. Journal titles include Analytical Chemistry (abstract), Canadian Journal of Chemistry (full-text), and Journal of Computational Chemistry (abstract).

 

Ø      Science Full Text Select (Wilson Web): Provides coverage for subjects including atmospheric science, chemical engineering, chemistry, and environmental science. Coverage dates for indexes, abstracts, and full-text content is 1994 and above.

 

Ø      The Serials Directory: This database provides up-to-date bibliographic information for various serials. The bibliographic information provided helps to identify the publication as peer-reviewed and scholarly.

Ø  DOAJ provides free access to full-text content from scholarly journals in the sciences by journal title or specific subject.
