Finding books at Friedsam Library:

FRIAR, the library’s online catalog can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection. Use the library’s website (http://web.sbu.edu/friedsam) and click link: “online catalog”.

Choose either the character based option-telnet ( id: mpac and password mpac2004)—on campus only--or the newer web-based option.

Academic Search Premier (EbscoHost)—full-text for @ 4,500 magazines and journals from many fields including education. More than 3,600 of these are peer-reviewed

ERIC (EbscoHost)—index with summaries to 1,000+ educationally-related journals and digest of 2,200 education documents

JSTOR—no current issues but many titles include the 1^st issue—good especially for historical searching

ProQuest—mult-disciplinary database—many full-text articles.

Health Reference Center (Gale—campus connection). Look to find articles on sports medicine here.

PsycINFO (EbscoHost) This is not a full-text database but linked text is sometimes noted—same journal is indexed in Academic Index or another full-text EbscoHost database).

PsycARTICLES—100,000+ full-text articles in psychology

WorldCat (FirstSearch) can be searched to find book citation. Some will list our library as owning the book. Many will list libraries around the country. Ask the Reference Librarian to log you on to this (full version) or use the open version at http://www.worldcat.org/
