Senior Year

Senior seminar! Dig out your notes from 201, 202, and your lab course: Suddenly, what seemed irrelevant will become useful as you plan, conduct and report your own investigation in psychology.

This is your last chance to graduate gracefully: Double check on the details of the requirements for the school and department from witch you intend to get a degree; register for courses that complete your degree.

This is also a time to take seemingly frivolous, for-your-soul-courses, or a "serious" course from the graduate curriculum of any school (e.g. community counseling, or organizational development). See the Graduate Studies catalog for details.

If you have not constructed a formal resume, meet with a counselor from the Career Center. Do this regardless of your plans or lack of them.

Become familiar with the Department of Psychology's procedures for letters of recommendation (get a handout from the Secretary of your advisor). Recruit a couple of faculty in Psychology and a couple in other departments to write letters for you.

If you are going to grad school, get ready to invest lots of time in researching potential schools, filling out application forms (10-20 of them!), interviewing and dealing with red tape.

Don't disappear spring semester or your senior year. Keep us posted on your plans and your ups and downs: We can help you all the way to Pomp and Circumstances and beyond.
