Cancellation of Classes before or after Vacations (December 1980)

Whereas the [Faculty Senate Academic Standards] committee has determined a high incident of student absenteeism and faculty cancellation of classes immediately prior to the Thanksgiving recess, 1980, and whereas this condition is counter productive to the purpose and practice for which the academic process exists... it is hereby resolved that all members of the community, students / faculty / administration consciously commit themselves to the importance and necessity of attending and holding all classes as scheduled, particularly in that period of time immediately preceding mid-term, Thanksgiving, and Easter recesses.
