Members of the St. Bonaventure University community are urged to be sensitive to the social implications of language and to seek wording free of discriminatory or sexist overtones.
Because St. Bonaventure University is committed to the fair treatment of individuals and groups, authors of all University publications are expected to write in a manner that is sensitive to the social implications of language and to seek wording free of discriminatory or sexist overtones.
In addition, since an institution's language should reflect its mission and project its image, the use of gender inclusive language is encouraged in all forms of St. Bonaventure University communication, both internal and external, formal and informal.
Members of all University constituencies are encouraged to incorporate gender inclusive language into their written and verbal communication as a matter of course.
