Honorary Doctorate degrees are conferred by St. Bonaventure University with the approval of the Board of Trustees and usually at the Spring commencement exercises, although the Board of Trustees may authorize conferral at other times and in other settings. As far as possible, the degree awarded should reflect the character of the service, and the citation should describe the achievements for which the person is being honored. A copy of the Board of Trustees' guidelines in detail as well as the procedures for nominating candidates may be obtained from the Office of the President or the Office of Human Resources.
