Promoting a consistent image and identity for St. Bonaventure University in accordance with established norms is the responsibility of all members of the University community. However, the ultimate responsibility to foster creativity while maintaining consistency of the University's image in all printed materials, publications and correspondence lies with the Office of Public Relations.
The concept of collective identity is crucial to the long-term effects of image building and image recognition. Therefore, the graphic identity program is a combination of consistency and flexibility — of unified common threads that relate to the University's overall mission combined with the presentation of new and different information linked to distinct programs, target audiences and distribution channels. The goal of the St. Bonaventure University image program is fundamental: to achieve institutional recollection through name recognition and repetition.
To that end, the Office of Public Relations provides creative and design assistance, guidance on the usage of graphic elements associated with the University, such as the University logo, word mark and seal, and guidance on delivering consistent messages to diverse audiences.
Such printed materials may include, but not necessarily be limited to, brochures, newsletters, magazines, catalogs, advertisements, posters, stationery, and business cards, and to the extent reasonable, invitations, note cards and special event programs.
Publications and printed materials should be developed in conjunction with and reviewed by the Vice President for Public Relations. New publications should be explored conceptually as far in advance as possible to allow for adequate planning and execution of the creative process.
Standards for printing of University letterhead, envelopes, and business cards are established regularly and monitored by the Office of Public Relations and University Purchasing Department.
Competitive quotes are obtained annually for the printing of University stationery and new contracts awarded at the start of each fiscal year. Information on the most currently approved vendor(s) for letterhead, envelopes, and business cards is available through the purchasing department.
