Environmental Science Program

The Environmental Science Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the environmental and ecological fields. Because of the comprehensive nature of the program, graduates will be prepared to enter graduate school in environmental science, environmental design, or environmental law.

The Environmental Science Program is interdisciplinary, intended to give students the in-depth knowledge and skills that will be needed to address environmental issues in the real world.  Environmental Science courses are taught by faculty from the Physics and Biology departments who have experience with environmental engineering, ecological research, and environmental regulation.  The several networked microcomputers in the Physics Department's computer room are available for use by Environmental Science Majors.

An interesting feature of the Program is the requirement that each student do a formal internship with a government agency or a private firm. The internship provides three hours of academic credit (ES 404), as well as practical experience in the field.
